Proving That You Are Eligible

In order to establish that you are eligible for Social Security disability benefits, you must prove to the Social Security Administration (SSA) that:

You have a medical condition that is expected to last one year or more or to result in death
The medical condition prevents you from working

Then, you will need to determine whether your claim was denied because you are ineligible for benefits or whether your application contained an error. If you are eligible for benefits, but your application didn’t contain enough information to convince the SSA that you are unable to work, you may be a good candidate to successfully appeal the decision.
